Professor Luis Fernando Castillo Ossa, from the University of Caldas (Colombia) carried out a research stay at the BISITE Group from 12 May to 30 June 2022, to work on topics related to Blockchain and Data Analytics (Small Data). Luis Fernando is full professor at this University and professor at the National University of Colombia, as well as assistant professor in Cognitive Sciences at the Autonomous University of Maizales - UAM. His experience has led to his appointment as a member of the Advisory Board of the AIR Institute.

As a result of his stay, it has been agreed to organise a congress jointly, in collaboration with the BISITE Research Group and the Universities of Caldas, Nacional de Colombia (at its headquarters in Manizales) and UAM. It will be the "Sustainable Smart Cities and Territories International Conference" (SSCt2023) in Manizales, June 2023.
The first ever SSCt was held in Qatar in 2021 and next year will bring together researchers and developers from academia and industry to present and discuss the latest scientific and technical advances in the fields of Smart Cities and Territories.
