Juan Manuel Núñez Velasco successfully defended his doctoral thesis on Wednesday, 25 February, entitled “Bio-inspired edge computing architecture based on lightweight language models to optimise agricultural productivity in areas without connectivity.”

The SCRIN Summit took place on October 29-30 at the R&D Multipurpose Building at the University of Salamanca, with attendees from various countries participating both in person and online.

Edge Computing and the Internet of Things (IoT) represent two fundamental pillars in today's technological evolution. Edge computing refers to the decentralisation of data processing, bringing it closer to where it is generated, rather than relying exclusively on remote servers. 

The researchers of the BISITE Research Group of the University of Salamanca Juan Manuel Núñez Velasco and Sebastián López Florez have attended the IoT Tech Expo London 2023, a leading event on IoT, digital twins, business transformation, IoT security, smart infrastructures, automation, data and analytics and platforms at the edge.

The Advances in Distributed Computing and Artificial Intelligence Journal (ADCAIJ- ISSN: 2255-2863), which is supported by the BISITE Research Group of the University of Salamanca, has been included in the Journal Citation Reports 2022. This ranking analyzes more than 21,500 journals from 112 different countries.

Mahmoud Abbasi is a researcher at the BISITE group and participates in the IoTalentum project with a Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellowship. 

Juan Manuel Corchado Rodríguez, Professor of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence and Director of the BISITE Research Group at the University of Salamanca, has joined the Board of Trustees of the AstraZeneca Foundation, which has been widely covered by the local and national media. 

The BISITE research group at the University of Salamanca will offer 4 postdoc fellowships in the framework of the prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions of the European Commission.

Researcher Sergio Miguel Tomé, who is currently carrying out a Marie Curie Global Fellowship project, under the supervision of Juan Manuel Corchado at the BISITE Group, was invited to give a lecture at the CINSIS (The International Conference on Innovation in Systems Engineering) eld annually by the University of Magdalena (Colombia), and on this occasion it was organised by the Women In Engineering UniMagdalena Affinity Group.
