Our colleague Yeray Mezquita is involved in numerous projects at the BISITE group, meanwhile working on his doctoral thesis. One of those projects is TECTONIC, which fosters intersectoral collaboration between academic and non-academic professionals working in multiple areas related to underwater cultural heritage.
As part of this research, he has had the opportunity to carry out a research stay in Cosenza (Italy), collaborating with the 3D Research company, which is part of the TECTONIC project.
In the 3DR group he worked on the design and development of an interface for the remote control of a GoPro Hero9. This camera will be placed inside a "diving suit" and used to take underwater images. Thanks to the system he had been working on, it will be remotely managed without the need for a diver to be at its side at all times.
The 3DR group has vast experience in technological innovation and Cultural Heritage. It is therefore a great ally in fulfilling one of TECTONIC's objectives, to find new solutions to the complex problems encountered in the field of underwater heritage.
