Social Computing

Social Computing is a new concept that has recently emerged. It has been described as a social structure in which technology strengthens relationships between individuals and the community, allowing the system to support the social behavior produced between humans and the system, and using this behavior to various ends. In other words, this concept refers to a group of individuals that are “computing” something at a social level. In the workflow of computing systems oriented to social aspects, humans can develop their own competencies, knowledge and skills. For their part, information and communication technologies can provide relevant information to the human users who can use this information within a specific context to reach their own objectives and, eventually, improve the environment in which they are located. The research group has worked on the development of these systems as applied to a Human-Agent interaction.

More specifically, human beings and these agents are capable of establishing a series of collaborative relationships/interactions between them, forming what we could refer to as human-agent teams, in order to meet their individual and/or collective objectives within a social organization or structure.

    • Technologies

      The interfeces en 3D allow solved problems of visualizing and manipulating various aspects of computer graphics, including geometry creation and editing, animation, layout of objects and cameras, light placement or other effects.

      The objective of AAL is to facilitate the goal of "ageing well at home" through the use of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT). Main problems facing the AAL field currently are the diversity of proprietary and incompatible solutions that prevent interoperability and the development of a competitive market.

      The research group BISITE has extensive experience in the development and implementation of systems based on Ambient Intelligence (Ambient Intelligence) and related areas, such as Ambient Assisted Living, eHealth and eInclusion, among others. These systems are able to obtain background information and automatically adjust to the user’s needs and environment characteristics, all in a simple and ubiquitous form for users, with the objective to optimize and facilitate their daily activities.

      Augmented Reality is a technology capable of combining information from the real world and the virtual world information. With this technology, we provide more attractive and useful to our products, in turn causing a huge visual impact on the receiver and improving communication between them.

      Humans are working increasingly more (directly or indirectly) or more closely connected to computer entities (agents) that are capable of acting autonomously and intelligently.       The employment of people with disabilities is a major challenge in our days and requires research in obtaining intelligent interfaces capable of adapting to the needs of users with disabilities. BISITE research group has extensive experience in developing applications to interact with people with physical disabilities (mobile, auditory, visual), especially those aimed at facilitating access to employment in office environments.

      As mobile devices have matured as a computing platform and acquired richer functionality, these advancements often have been paired with the introduction of new sensors. Now, these new funcionalities can be use to enrich systems with new funcionalities
    • Technologies

      The mobile systems including wireless connection techniques, link protocols, mobile networking including support for the Internet Protocol suite or mobile middleware.
