Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) transform the teaching-learning process by facilitating access to quality educational resources and fostering the development of essential digital skills in the modern world, preparing students to face an increasingly technological and dynamic work environment.

Among the advantages of ICT for teachers is the ability to diversify pedagogical strategies through the use of tools such as interactive platforms, multimedia resources and online assessment systems. This not only optimises preparation time and content management, but also allows for a more accurate monitoring of students' progress. For learners, ICT offers access to a vast amount of information, fostering their autonomy and research skills. In addition, these technologies promote collaborative learning through tools such as forums, videoconferencing and educational social networks.

Given the need for training in this discipline, the University of Salamanca offers the Master's Degree in ICT Resources in the Teaching-Learning process, which has already been running for over 10 years. Ubaldo Garrido, a teacher of Drawing and Digital Art in secondary education, took this degree last year and signed up with the aim of achieving new training goals in order to broaden his teaching experience and incorporate the new teachings into classroom activities. ‘We are in charge of educating the new generations and we must be ready to face the challenges imposed by technologies and respond to the demands of the students.

For her part, Elena Berrón Ruiz, also a graduate of the master's degree, was able to get the job she wanted as a training advisor in the area of coexistence at the Teacher Training and Educational Innovation Centre in Ávila, part of the Castilla y León regional government. ‘I took the master's degree to improve my digital skills and to accredit high levels of certification according to the Framework of Reference for Digital Competence in Teaching’.

This qualification, Elena added, equips graduates with knowledge about a wide range of useful resources, tools and platforms to improve teaching and learning processes in the digital era.

Master's Degree in ICT Resources in the Teaching-Learning Process

In an environment where technology is present in almost every aspect of daily life, it is necessary for education systems to prepare young people for this digital context. The use of ICT enables teachers to adapt their methods to the changing needs of learners, which improves student motivation and engagement. In turn, they facilitate distance education and self-directed learning, making it more inclusive and accessible.

Through the Master in ICT Resources in the Teaching-Learning process, the University of Salamanca proposes training in the most recent trends in the use of ICT in education, including artificial intelligence. At the same time, it offers strategies to promote learning based on games (gamification) and virtual reality (VR), thus providing immersive and motivating learning experiences. Mastery of these techniques will enable students to accredit their knowledge with the C1 (leader) and C2 (pioneer) educational digital competence certifications .

Those interested in this training can pre-register until 22 September 2024 and formalise their enrolment in the period from 2 to 14 October 2024. For more details, please visit the website or contact us at formacionbisite@usal.es.
