Our colleague Yeray Mezquita is involved in different Blockchain-related projects of the BISITE group, while working on his doctoral thesis in the same field.

As part of his doctoral research, he has had the opportunity to stay in Maribor, the second largest city in Slovenia, where he is collaborating with the research group Lab:UM.

Yeray has extensive experience in Blockchain-driven IoT systems, which allowed him to join Blaž Podgorelec, in an investigation on the interoperability of blockchain networks in the field of supply chains. This is a great opportunity for our colleague,

Just days after arriving in Maribor, the global health crisis caused by COVID-19 gave a radical turn to his plans, however, he decided to stay in the city and get the most out of the experience.

Although the stay has been different in that he was not able to work on-site at Lab:UM, Yeray continues to work remotely and has managed to move forward with research on blockchain interoperability.

No doubt, Yeray has had a unique learning experience, but he says, "Luckily, the worst seems to be over, and although the pandemic has turned my plans upside down, I feel that I have benefited a lot from this experience.”

Estancia Yeray

Good work Yeray, we hope you keep up with your research!
