This morning we have welcomed, in the laboratories of the BISITE Research Group of the University of Salamanca, MEP Luis Garicano, to whom we have shown the latest advances on some of our projects.

After the visit to our facilities, our principal investigator, Juan Manuel Corchado, held a working meeting with Garicano. During this meeting we have been able to give a series of presentations of our different platforms and we have explained the details of some of the tools that we are developing in fields such as intelligent textiles or biocomputing.

The MEP showed great interest in our projects, especially in some of them, such as DeepNGS, which we are developing in collaboration with the AIR Institute and the Biomedical Research Institute of Salamanca. Solutions such as DEEPNGS Next Generation Sequencing allow for the rapid analysis of genomic data, providing explicit and complete information thanks to Cloud Computing. Thus, this software incorporates the latest advances in Biomedicine and is capable of analyzing all types of formats, from complete sequencing files to clinical reports, coming from different sources.

Meetings of this kind help research groups bring their work closer to political agents and make them aware of the lines of research that can serve general progress. In short, this is an excellent opportunity to bring science closer to those who can favor its development by investing in innovative and quality projects.
