E-commerce has become very important during the worldwide health crisis, even though it was already on the right track in the last trimester of 2019, as sales were 23.5% higher than in 2018.

The growth of this sector, combined with the current situation, opens the door to a promising future for online shopping. This also means that the companies that have incorporated technologies such as the internet of things, big data or artificial intelligence will have great advantage over their competitors. In fact, not all companies have automated systems for stock control.

One example are smart shelves with RFID sensors, which allow to have a total control of the goods stored in them and thus know if it is necessary to restock. This reduces management times and possible logistical errors.

The application of IoT in e-commerce has countless benefits, mainly in the safety of operations, maintenance of the stores, stock control and above all a better shopping experience for users.

It is a great opportunity that large and small shops can take advantage of, in order to increase their sales and improve their logistics processes. To coordinate this type of strategy, it is necessary to have qualified staff. For this reason, the BISITE research group has designed a Master's Course in Internet of Things. This course is offered at the University of Salamanca, where we prepare professionals for this super-connected era.

Pre-enrolment for 2020/2021 is now open. 25% discount for the first 5 students enrolled in our blended learning Master in IoT.
